Anatomy Study: Male Hand
2023
Software Used | ZBrush
This digital sculpture is a focused anatomical exploration of the male hand, created in ZBrush as part of a broader series of anatomical studies. The work emphasizes structure, proportion, and surface form, capturing the complexity of tendon flow, bone placement, and skin folds while maintaining a clean, clinical presentation.
The chosen pose, with directional elegance of an extended index finger with flexed supporting digits, was selected to highlight tension across the metacarpals and subtle asymmetries in the finger joints. By isolating the hand against a neutral background, the study becomes both an educational tool and a refined artwork, bridging classical sculptural practice with modern digital methods.
Like traditional plaster casts once used in ateliers, this piece functions as both a reference and a meditation on form. It reflects a sculptor’s ongoing commitment to mastering anatomy at the micro level, ensuring authenticity in larger, more expressive works.
