Micromesh can give you such an advantage when generating 3D patterns. They can be used for generating quick tertiary details with a simple click. Below will cover how to use Micromeshs in both standard and advanced techniques. You can find my Micromesh library here.

Tillable is Key though not required

If you are new to the concept of creating patterns, I'd suggest trying this in 2D first.
